Justin races for Team Roadkill in the Hot Rod class with his 1969 Mustang Mach 1. Even with traction problems limiting the cars performance, it has run as quick as 14.37 seconds at Bandimere Speedway. The cars quickest run was at Western Slope Dragway in Grand Junction Colorado, where it ran 14.10. The car is regularly street driven, has full interior and functioning accessories.
Justin has owned this car for 14 years and has performed numerous modifications to it. The original 351W was rebuilt and punched to 358 CID. The engine is equipped with Edelbrock heads and intake manifold, a Carter 750 AFB carburator, and MSD ignition. Headers and dual exhaust push the fumes out the back. A fuel injection conversion is also planned for the Mach 1.
Justin likes to row the gears, so the Mustang's original automatic transmission was ditched in favor of a Tremec TKO 5 speed. 4.11:1 gears turn on the Detroit True-trac differential. To keep the car from going up in smoke, sticky tires will be installed before the beginning of the season. The gear and tire combo should mean quicker E.T's from this nice Mach 1.
